BLUES IN HI-FI
‘Blues In Hi-Fi’ is a celebrated radio FM radio program revered for its pure and passionate exploration of the Blues in all of its “shades” for over 20 years.
The show is separated from so many others by featuring an extensive variety of Blues music: Delta, Chicago, Gospel, Jump Blues, Jazz, Rockabilly, Swamp Pop, British and Folk Blues. Put simply, it is the way a Blues show sounds after having been born and raised on the Gulf Coast.
The goal of the show, is to capture the sound, style, and vibe of AM Radio’s Golden Age using the production value and energy born from the ashes of Bob “Wolfman Jack” Smith, John Richbourg, Bill “Hoss” Allen, Dewey Phillips, Dick Biondi, and “Jocko” Henderson. The spirit of the show embodies the idea that radio can be an eternal flame, no many how weak it may appear at times.
A DAY IN THE LIFE PODCAST
To bring the listener along on a musical journey for exposure and education through engaging storytelling of shared experiences within a nuanced soundtrack of musical genius both past and present.
This idea, sprung from pure passion as an avid appreciator of all things music, began as a humble book. However, after spending so many years in radio, being around the scenes and people that produce live music, those who make records, and musicians who grew in craft and ability, the book idea transformed into a podcast. The same goals of being autobiographical and musically educational still stood tall in the approach of the podcast. Meanwhile, what it has become is something wholly original. It has morphed into an audio endeavor as it relates to life and how we live it. It has turned a mere book into a living, breathing, and inspiring podcast.
The mixture of an audio journal, a radio show, a blog, and a mix tape sits firmly at the core of this podcast. This musical journey has become somewhat of an exploration of Pop Culture throughout many eras in America and beyond. Studied and discussed are how cultures of the past can reflect and influence the current era. Themes are utilized from time to time. They include personal stories and humorous accounts from the host’s life experiences.
CLINT BROUSSARD
Clint began his time in radio curating shows at Rice University’s station, KTRU in Houston, TX. After “re-branding” the Blues program there and developing it into what became ‘Blues In Hi-Fi’, Clint spent 15 years bringing his Gulf Coast Blues show to the masses.
A two year hiatus occurred after KTRU was sold and went solely to internet streaming, Clint brought ‘Blues In Hi-Fi’ to the legendary Pacifica station, KPFT 90.1 (broadcasting out of Houston), which has been the home for Clint’s ‘’Blues In Hi-Fi’ program ever since. Clint has also filled in for many shows with varying content at both KPFT and KTRU.
In January of 2016, Clint began a podcast based on book ideas he’d been floating around and dubbed it ‘A Day In The Life.’
Clint Broussard has been a serious record collector his entire life; and his knowledge of labels, producers, studios, musicians, and even recording locations has evolved organically from research and passion. His ever-growing collection of records is staggering. Sharing these records and the knowledge Clint has retained through his journey of collecting serves as the nucleus of all his radio-related work.
